My Way
Traveling Towards Better Treatment
My introduction to the world of massages was a bit of a joke but soon I realized that the work was actually interesting and that there was more to it than what appears on the surface. At that time, my native Slovenia was experiencing the last wave of the economic crisis. Since I was looking for a change in my life, I went to work on a ship as a masseuse.
Further training in London lasted five weeks and gave me a good foundation for some new types of massages I hadn’t known before. The company offered deep tissue treatment among others. The technique was so recognizable that in the world of massage, everyone immediately recognized the “man from the ship”. But I upgraded it for a more serious approach in the following years and used a variety of techniques, resulting in excellent results.
My first ship was the “happy” Costa Fortuna. Unfortunately, the time was not happy as I boarded three months after the famous accident of another ship of the same company. Financially, it was a failure, but as a lifelong experience, it was an exciting adventure.
In the mountains and on the ski slope
"Apres ski" and other stories
After the expiration of the contract, I quickly found a job in a 5 * hotel in Austria. Turns out the hotel stands firmly on the meat, caught between mountains and ski slopes. He doesn’t sail around and I don’t wake up every day in a different place like I was on the ship.
However, the work was interesting, the hotel was excellent and the working conditions were good. I learned new massages and got to know the cosmetic products that are typical of the Alpine world. I worked with new cosmetic lines. After work, I did treatments for staff who were under a lot of pressure and worked hard. There was always someone who had pain. The hotel manager also came for treatment because of a sore back. I tried all the techniques I knew at the time, and in the end, I did a hot stone massage for him. He was surprised by the performance. He said he has tried such a massage all over the world, including in Indonesia, where the hot stones come from. I was given the title of "Queen of Hot Stones".
Otherwise, working in a hotel next to the ski resort has its own specifics Most guests come to ski with great overestimation of their unprepared body and relieving muscle aches was my main job.
Back to the sea
The ship sails and expands horizons
As my winter season ended, I boarded the prestigious Queen Mary 2 for the spring to the autumn season.
I was once again learning new treatments and procedures with new cosmetic lines. The staff was practically from all over the world and each was a specialist for something. I tried to learn as much as I could. Pampering guests here was an art brought to a peak. But for me, it was the most interesting treatment, which relied on the shiatsu technique to completely relieve tension in the body with just a fairly light touch.
I still use this treatment as part of an aromatherapy massage, and shiatsu techniques as a supplement to trigger point massage.
Some management, some treatment
Never a dull moment
In the following years, I worked in a prestigious hotel on the Slovenian coast. First as a wellness therapist, then as a wellness manager. The work was demanding as it also included the regular running of the entire 5*hotel from Friday to Monday. There are many interesting anecdotes from this part of my professional life.
In the wellness, I did all the body treatments, as well as face and body lifts. Facial lifting included work with devices and cosmetics, as well as manual facial massage. This one was good, but then a colleague from India showed me his facelift and I was amazed at its effects. I later found out that acupressure points stimulated and massaged are also used by other systems. For example, the technique of emotional freedom (EFT or tapping).
The beautiful countryside
Fascinated and accepted
When I got a job offer in England, I didn’t hesitate. I found myself in beautiful countryside, on the edge of Heather National Park. The centuries-old estate had a daily wellness area and guests were enchanted by the beauty of nature and the luxurious services we offered. Unfortunately, the company closed abruptly a few weeks after my arrival and I quickly had to find a new job. In two weeks I was already in the south of England. I got a job at a charming hotel, not far from many natural attractions. Despite the fact that the English are considered cold and introverted people, I was well received and I had a large number of clients who always came back. They said that I have a very special technique and that my treatments are very pleasant and effective. I was already thinking about working for another year or so and then opening my own company somewhere in the south of England.
A New Hope
I never give up
Then Europe closed, and the world stood still for a while. From England, I returned to Slovenia. I couldn't find a job anywhere, and no one in my industry was working. No one had any idea what we could even do. In the midst of all this confusion, my life turned upside down again and I moved to the Netherlands. The decision to start my own company and work for myself became apparent as soon as I began searching for a job. I'm sure it's not just business. Moreover, this is an opportunity for as many people as possible to improve their quality of life.
I look to the future with great hope.
